Why is there a shaft of green light in the Sleeping Dragon?
If go through the Sleeping Dragon Inn and happen to spot a glowing shaft of green light in the corner, chances are good that I've left a little surprise somewhere random out in Aenea for a lucky player to stumble across (it could be above ground, it could be underground, it could even be underwater...it just won't be in the Dark Realm). What gets left will vary whenever I do this, but it'll be in a Barrel of GoodnessTM, Chest of GoodnessTM, or even Crate of GoodnessTM (so that the automatic area cleaner script doesn't get rid of it before it's found).
Since I'll be placing these manually in-game every once in a while, they'll only be there until the server next resets.
Enjoy!

Is this still an on-going thing, or did I miss the timespan involved?

I just haven't been online as much as I'd like to place it and the little bonus.

Ah ... as it turns out, I've never been good at finding things, so I'd miss them every time ...

Re: Why is there a shaft of green light in the Sleeping Dragon?
Update:
I've now made this automated and randomized, so there are 64 possible treasures to find, 1 per server reset, which will appear in 1 of 107 possible locations in Aenea. The green light shaft should vanish once someone has claimed the item from the chest/barrel/crate it's in.

Re: Why is there a shaft of green light in the Sleeping Dragon?
Each Container of Goodness is easy to spot because of the sunburst medallion on it, which is shiny, gold, and glows in the dark. If you don't have the hak update from yesterday though, you won't see them (it's three new models).
One thing I ask is, if the item is something your character wouldn't really have a use for, please leave it for others to find rather than just adding it to your overstuffed inventory/ethereal chest or selling it.
The fun comes from finding the things, and if everyone just grabs things they have no use for or have seen already, that means such items won't be found by other players (or worse, other players will find them showing up in stores...and what's the point of a "treasure hunt" item if you just find it in a shop?).
Some of the items are useful but existing items, others are unique to the treasure hunt.
And yes, the reason there are over a hundred possible locations is so that we don't have wizards that do find the locations setting a teleport location for every single one and just blowing through a stack of teleport scrolls to jump around to every one they know of. Plus, it's actually really easy for me to add even more possible locations later to decrease the chances of a Container of Goodness (TM) appearing in already placed locations.

I sense a lack of trust in mages in you !
Great news though. It's treasure hunting time!

Re: Why is there a shaft of green light in the Sleeping Dragon?
But but but.. what if you play your character as a hoarder of everything, kleptomaniac style.... what if they happen to be a rogue that can find anything useful and hate to create waste...The Amethyst Dragon wrote:

Damn it. I admit. It's not the characters... I AM A PACKRAT....
I will keep this in mind when/if I come across a treasure chest.... .... ...

Re: Why is there a shaft of green light in the Sleeping Dragon?
Although, if it's getting closer to time for a reset...it likely won't be found by someone else anyway.

Awesome, just awesome.
You never cease to impress, I look forward to seeing this!

Hopefully only one more surgery to go and I can get some gametime in!

Re: Why is there a shaft of green light in the Sleeping Dragon?
Found a goodie-box already a couple weeks ago. It had something really nice in it.
ALmost missed it though. The chest was facing a wall, so the only reason I spotted the big shiney design was because I had my camera angle at a very funky angle to get through certain transition that was right next to the chest
