Build discussion and NWN help
I have a slight problem.
I have Endless Nights IV and VI, as well as the Pretty Good Character Generator, and none will load, telling me I'm missing a custom talk table.
They didn't come with custom talk...
And I didn't see anything for it on the site I got them from (nwnvault).
Any ideas?
Also, my newest character is going for the tank, with EWP, going for WF, WS, and IC in Bastard Sword, wearing studded leather and carrying a tower shield, currently saving up for the fullplate. Is Bastard Sword the way to go for a sword-and-board? I may also pick up some benefits for a blunt weapon for skelly slaying... Not sure what to do for ranged, but leaning towards throwing axes.

Re: Build discussion and NWN help
Does the game tell you the name of the talk table (.tlk file)?
As far as your newest character goes, bastard sword gets you 1d10 base damage (vs. 1d8 with longsword), and it's the best 1-handed damage you're going to find. There is also more variety in bastard swords than in katanas in Aenea (Aenea is more a "western european" based fantasy world than an "eastern asia" based one).
If going for ranged strength, look for mighty longbows (base 1d8 damage). A heavy crossbow is 1d10 damage, but can't add any of your strength bonus.

The exact message is....
Could not load the module.
Missing required custom talk table.

Re: Build discussion and NWN help
I would check to make sure you have both the CEP 2.0 and PRC tlk files in your /tlk directory.
Re: Build discussion and NWN help
You need PRC, too?
I just used the CEP installation, and I did that for Aenea, after I had tried (and failed) to run Endless Nights.

Re: Build discussion and NWN help
I just looked at one of the Endless Nights pages (IV, I think), and it mentioned the PRC in the comments, so that's why I brought it up.
Re: Build discussion and NWN help
Oh, I had thought it was optional...
And since I know the PRC and CEP can conflict quite terribly, I was loathe to install it...
Hmm.
Also, reason I'm leaning towards axes is use of a shield while attacking, and it also applies strength to damage, like a composite longbow. Heavier, and less ammunition, unfortunately, but I'm working towards primarily a melee build, and becoming a Champion of Torm (insert name of guardian deity in place of Torm).

Champion of ----, would be Dalix, the god of Protection (also the God which Paladins must follow). FYI, Dalix's favored weapon is the Warhammer.Maeglin Dubh wrote:Oh, I had thought it was optional...

Good. I'm already a follower of Dalix, I just forget the name.
And I do have a warhammer.
I'll use that for Skellyslaying.
EDIT: Even at this level, I like him better already than Morkano. He's more independent, better able to go our and fight on his own. Morkano is, unfortunately, largely a support character at this point. Derfel can go out on his own and kill things, and though I have died a few times, he's much less fragile, and better at taking on multiple enemies. Having the option to throw up Expertise and jack my AC to 22 when facing large numbers is helpful, and Cleave helps mop up the gobbos just fine.
