character recognition in some conversations

i think it would be neat if some of the npc's recognized certain pc's. for examples, your character is a cleric of deity x. you visit a temple of that deity. when you greet the temple guardian, he greets you as a member of the fold. maybe even gives you special discounts because you're 'one of us'. this could be a simple check based on what the cleric pc is wearing [and that would be i.c. too, because you wouldn't normally recognize someone as a member of an organization w/o some sort of identifying mark].
