Feb. 26, 2012: Ametharonmon

Ametharonmon, that elusive merchant known to sell soul gems to those lucky enough to catch him, is getting a minor change with the next module update.

First, instead of only appearing for 1 minute, he'll stick around for 3 minutes at a time.

Second, he'll start carrying a randomly determined variety of more potent items...dragonscale mantles, +8 ability items, and +4 ability tomes.

Sweet!

Is he open to Pickpocket for those without gold? Or will he not be of any use to lowbies at all?

probably take longer than 3 minutes to run away, get gold from the bank and look through his wares

Then he will disappear just as you decide to purchase something, sounds about right for a sneaky merchant

Lower Level Characters: The soul gems aren't very expensive. The other stuff kind of is.

Will he appear more frequently? The idea that certain players have never seen him at all is surprising, and I have only seen him once in my tenure. Longer visits will help, esp for getting thru the dialogue, but I also support having him show up a bit more often, even it is is only to learn that name....

Considering peoples statements of never seeing him, was impressed that I am now one of the few. even for the few seconds

For those of us rogues who habitually self-bank our wealth in undroppable gems, I was wondering if Ametharonmon might buy gems at a some reasonable price, as having that potential bankroll on hand might really help the panicky situation of affording his presumably expensive items before his clock runs out?

I could make that change.

With a fairly huge or no limit on the total sum amount he can give you for a stack of gems (as some merchants run out of gold), so you can exchange enough on the spot to fund a huge purchase.

I'm wondering how much a Tome+4 might cost, wonder if it's under 100,000?
