Dec. 13, 2012: Player Paging
Based on a suggestion here on the forums...
With the next module update, PCs will gain the ability to send a visual/audible "page" to another PC. Designed for those times when the other player may have stepped away or is working in another window while letting NWN run, this will pop up some magenta floaty text and play a short gong sound.
There will be two new VC commands for this function:
;;page xxxxx - replace xxxxx with the intended PC's full name (including punctuation, capitalization, and spaces!) to send the page
;;option page - toggle on/off the receiving of paging notifications...for when you just don't want to be bothered
Please keep in mind that this is intended for those times when another player just isn't answering a Tell from you. Don't pester others with this if they're actually playing, and don't send more than one page in a row.

One thought:
When trying to page someone playing a PC with a name that is long and nigh unpronounceable, and a big hassle to type, would it be possible to substitute the player name instead for this?
The idea being, when I click someone's portrait in my chat log, or if I open the player window and highlight a character and click the Tell button, it puts the tell command followed by the player's name in single quotes into my chat bar for me.
Thus, I would only need to clear out the quotes and replace the tell command with the above page command. Much easier in most cases... Doable?

Possible, yes. I can make it check for player name (aka, username) in addition to character name.daveyeisley wrote:One thought:

You have anyone in particular in mind, dave? XPdaveyeisley wrote:When trying to page someone playing a PC with a name that is long and nigh unpronounceable ...
In all seriousness, a function that I look forward to abusing ... I mean using! Heh. It'll be going in the VC Text lists soon, too!
