Jan. 1, 2013: Prestige Class: Fae Adept
Between moving, child raising, and hospital visits, I'm working on a new prestige class for fae (formerly called halflings). I figure elves/half-elves and dwarves have their own classes, why not the littlest PC race?
Basically, they gain access to faerie magic and can cast from a list of certain spells once per day per Fae Adept level: charm person, color spray, entangle, tasha's hideous laughter, tripgust
They will also be able to create magic darts (you know, those things this race gets an attack bonus with) that can cause magical sleep or confusion.
Oh, and at 10th level they get dragonfly-style wings and can fly just like a winged subrace character.
Other details will be on the main website once the class is available in-game. I'm about 90% done. I've got all of the art resources made (icons, wings), all of the 2da editing done, and 90% of the scripting done. I just need to add a few new areas the module and some helpful faeries in the gameworld (that will teach the character how to tap into such magic...aka, unlock the prestige class).
Not much of a combat-oriented class, this one. More for those that want to play up the ancestry of their fae character.
Here's a couple of pics with the wings. They coloration of the wings will depend on the alignment of the Fae Adept.
Yes, that is transparency. Yes, they are directly modeled & textured after dragonfly wings. And yes, they were a pain in the posterior to make.

Dude! Your pain, our gain! Looks abso-frickin-amazing!
Come to think of it, I think I have a few fae that I can dust off and put through the paces ... might be able to level them up by the time this is added!
Great job, ! It's things like this that keep us coming back for more, more, more!

Re: Jan. 1, 2013: Prestige Class: Fae Adept
You know, I don't think I've ever played a halfling. This might give me a reason.
Wing colours
I remember reading a series of books long ago about mages who, as they progressed and learnt more spells, had the runes appear on their armour (they were insects)
Not knowing how many levels there would be, is it possible for the wings to change colour maybe every 10 levels, showing the Faes experience?
As a non magical person, I always play melee, it doesnt affect mine but would be cool.
BUT, with all that is happening with I understand if it hits the maybe in a few years pile

Re: Jan. 1, 2013: Prestige Class: Fae Adept
Been taking a look at the PrC in-game, and was wondering if you minded if I posted that information on the forum?
As far as I can tell, there's no a single post mentioning what the requirements and most of the benefits for the PrC is. Just that it's included soon...but maybe that was on purpose by you, which is why I ask before posting anything.

Almost done with the area that has the necessary NPC to get started in the class.
You can post the information if you like. I was going to add it to the main website when the class becomes truly available.

Re: Jan. 1, 2013: Prestige Class: Fae Adept
Wow!! .. that is a mighty fine list of abilities for a 10level investment for any halflin fae that isn't a demonspawn ....
+4 Charisma boost
+2 Dexterity boost
Wings / Flight
Darkvision
Dodge
Invisibility 10/day
"Fae Spell" 10/day
"Create Dart" 10/day
Access to Animal Empathy (previously only for Druids/Rangers and Shifters)
and 100% wand use or not. (Regardless of class restrictions)...
Could provide some very interesting Multi-class options...

Re: Jan. 1, 2013: Prestige Class: Fae Adept
Non-demonspawn fae should be able to take on this class now. Hopefully there won't be too many bugs with it, considering it's basically untested.
Those interested might want to go looking in an area you might expect faeries to take up residence...like an unusual forest, after crossing some water.

Re: Jan. 1, 2013: Prestige Class: Fae Adept
Couple issues...
The faeries have faction issues. The regular ones go haywire on the elder, and something causes them to go hostile on PCs, seems to be getting hit with whatever AoE magic effect they're firing off. Sleeping resets the faction problem.
Quest problem: The quest giver does not recognize the items when you've collected them all, and thus making it impossible to take any fae adept levels. I'm assuming that there's only 8 color variations of the one item, and that only store bought versions of the wands are accepted.

Changing their faction for next module update.
Checking up on required quest items and why they wouldn't be recognized.
