Spell Utility Tweak: Charm Person/Mass Charm

These two spells (and their monster equivalents) have mildly useful combat application (temporarily turns baddies friendly).
But there's no real use for the spell with it's true intent.... to charm and sway people to doing what you'd like them to do!
So... a minor tweak... how about casting charm person on a vendor who usually says "Sorry, not selling to you"... makes him bend the rules for you since under the spell he views you as that charming friend he know from somewhere, he just can't remember where
Like wearing a disguise, but without the disguise.

I like that idea very much, it would make enchantment spells so much more compelling to memorize (outside of using the paralyze spells).
And...I always wanted to see what the orc and drow merchants had for sale :p

Another idea as well... casting charm person on a merchant could perhaps have the same effect as a trader's friend spellbook.... the merchant likes you a good bit better and gives you better prices.

Another idea would be to make that part of the spell(s) (when cast on merchants) function with a bluff/persuade check, if the PC fails swaying the NPC they are able to buy at standard prices, if succeeding the check they get the benefit of the trader's aid book (+10 to appraise for 1 game hour).
I always love when skill checks has a meaning in the environement of areas in a PW/module, whether it's a search check to find a hidden door, a spellcraft check to find out the meaning of a magical effect in the area, or a social skill used to persuade an npc to do something they wouldn't otherwise do. =D

As the NWN Wiki says:
Charm person
Merchants under the influence of this spell will suffer a -10 penalty to their opposed appraise check (if they make one) when opening their store. This usually means that prices are adjusted 10% (of the item's value) in the PC's favor.
Charm monster
Merchants under the influence of this spell will suffer a -10 penalty to their opposed appraise check (if they make one) when opening their store. This usually means that prices are adjusted 10% (of the item's value) in the PC's favor.
Dominate person
Merchants under the influence of this spell will suffer a -20 penalty to their opposed appraise check (if they make one) when opening their store. This usually means that prices are adjusted 20% (of the item's value) in the PC's favor.

I'd been meaning to try it, to see if this aspect still functions in Aenea, but unfortunately hadn't gotten around to it yet.

The spells still use the EffectCharmed() and EffectDominated() NWN functions, so this should still work.

I must be hitting some upper limit then. Alastair gets no change in prices with the spell used :O Not that he needs to rip merchants off any more than he already does though

My new PC(no appraise) succesfully charmed a merchant and got no bonus whatsoever.

I've been trying this now, and no results.
I tried scrolls of Dominate Person, then with memorized Dominate Person. I first went up to the merchant and saw what he would give me without any augmentation, and then I closed the shop and tried the spell before reopening the shop. Nada. It wasn't until I used the Trader's book that I got a difference in prices.
So I'd say that this isn't working on the merchants.
