NWN Toolset turns white when telecting terrain groups? Empty NWN Toolset turns white when telecting terrain groups?

Hi, this report is not about Aenea, but rather the NWN toolset. When I select a group from the terrain the area turns completely white. Would you know why that is?

That is not something I've ever encountered before when working with the toolset.  The only reason I've seen things completely white are missing texture files for models, but that's never shown up only when selecting terrain.

As The Amethyst Dragon mentioned, it's usually objects lacking texture files that create white spaces.  This can be either from not having the correct files in your game (broken installation, critical update, Aenea files), or it can be from too-low graphic settings in your game or from your video card and its driver.  NVidia drivers had issues with NWN for a while, but they seem fixed now.

But even if you have an up-to-date video driver, you may still have to tweak the video settings for this old Open-GL game.  As I mentioned in this post, I'd recommend reviewing the Tweak Guides (their system guide, video card guides, and NWN2 graphics guide-- they don't have NWN1 but I found the one for NWN2 quite helpful in understanding video settings).

The hak list goes in a priority order. Haks at the top of the list override the haks below. Normally this isn't a problem, but if you have the same file ina couple of haks the ones near the top take priority. This can mess things up if you have multiple 2da files or textures with the same name.

You will need to merge all those 2da files into one file, and rename (and reassign) other stuff so there is no conflicts.
Also stuff in your override folder may be affecting your toolset hak packs too. NWN doesn't really do well with conflicting file names. However I'm 99% sure that haks override the override folder. The game does get confused though.

Yeah, like Rusty says, if you're messing around with the haks already loaded into the module, changing their order, or adding another hak to the module list, then you will likely have conflicts.  Especially if you put the new hak(s) at the top, or in any position that isn't at the very bottom of that list.

Yeah, that's something I've never seen before myself in 8+ years working with the toolset.

I suggest posting your question and screenshot at the self/tech support part of the BioWare NWN forums: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/187/index

I'd include a direct link to your screenshot, along with as much specific information as you can give, along your system specs:
OS, video card type, any use of toolset extension(s), haks used, etc.

On a related note, when you add or rearrange haks in the toolset, you should save and completely exit the toolset, then restart it and reopen your module.  I've had the toolset (and the game client for that matter) ignore new/updated art assets until I closed and restarted them...really annoying with the game client if just testing out a new model or texture.

If that is a custom tileset then it looks like it is missing the information to tell it what textures to use for, erm... well, everything. That shiny-white texture in the top left square (the hill) looks very similar to the in-game texture-not-found-texture especially with the black wall...

Try re-installing/downloading the hak the tileset comes from, it might be corrupted. Does this happen with every tileset or just this one?

Does changing/toggling the shadows/fog/lighting buttons affect the view? This can sometimes happen with all white fog/sun/moon/tile colours and simply zooming the view out too far...

Can your graphics card run the toolset/open GL programs... I think the toolset has slightly higher minimum requirements then the main game. And on that note, what does this area look like in-game?... Is it the same or does it render correctly ?

I am quite sure it is not my hardware. But I do want to thank everyone for taking the time to help and answer my questions. It really does mean a lot to me. Thank you very much. I am going to try reinstalling. I think there must be corruption somewhere. All I am running at this time is NWN HoTU 1.69 CEP 2.4. I was about to reinstall the Aenea haks when I noticed a couple of issues. Thanks again everyone.
