Nov. 22, 2013: Conjuration Focuses and Summoned Creatures

Based on a suggestion, I'm making the various Spell Focus (conjuration) feats have an effect on the creatures summoned.

with Spell Focus (Conjuration):
- duration +33%
- +3 to attack rolls
- +3 to AC
- +3d6 hitpoints

with Greater Spell Focus (Conjuration):
- duration +66%
- +6 to attack rolls
- +6 to AC
- +6d6 hitpoints

with Epic Spell Focus (Conjuration):
- duration +100%
- +9 to attack rolls
- +9 to AC
- +9d6 hitpoints

I love the fact that the suggestion for this was put in 3years ago and now it gets implemented in such an awesome way

Just goes to show how much really does keep all those suggestions on hold until he can find a way to implement them. I've said done this before and I'm sure I will do this again. To I raise a salute !  !

I don't implement all suggestions, and some I don't fully use, but player suggestions are a huge source of possible improvements to the game and a resource I draw on often.

Sometimes I just pick a page farther back and reread a bunch of them to grab one or two to implement.

I do plan on doing something with a couple other spell focus schools, but those will take more work.  Summoning spells just all happen to use the same script, so it was less to dig out of the game to edit at 1 am.

Very cool. Definitely much better than it was.

The epic level boost may scale nicely mathematically, but I envision that it may not be as significant in upper level combats such as the Dark Realm, when compared to the significance of the lower level feats in pre-epic combats.

Will this affect summoned creatures obtained other than spells, such as the blackguard undeads and fiendish servant, the shadow dancer shadow lord/epic shadow lord, and the palemaster special ability summoned undeads?

Just the ones from the summon monster I to summon monster IX spells (and maybe the planar ally ones).

Will the Staff of Conjuration affect these Summons stats also (if one doesn't have a Spell Focus Conjuration feat)?

That staff of the conjurer increases the saving throw DC of the holder's conjuration spells by +2.  It doesn't confer the Spell Focus feat.
