Issues with HoD's and shapechanging?

, I noticed that on login, there's a message about removing the hat of disguise before using polymorph spells or wildshape abilities.

I DO remember that Alex, my shifter, has run into a few issues in the past with the HoD and shapechanging, although I cannot for the life of me remember what...

What exactly are the issues with the HoD and shapeshifting again?

I don't know if the HOD has gotten totally fixed, as unfortunately I haven't tried to use it since it had been having issues where it mucked up incorrectly replacing the various parts of your toon's body/armor, both when it was activated and when it was removed, like replacing your head with a larger phenotype.  (Player had to buy another head to fix that.)

Permanent changes to my own armor required me to go to Sronj's and redo my armor parts.  You can see why I've been disinclined to try it again, until it's officially tested.  Otherwise I'll be completely unequipped the first time I go to try it again.

So I imagine for shapechanged states, it would have even more of a problem putting your right body parts back afterwards.

Yes, I remember the one issue was body part fubars... My shifter had that happen, his head model changed, his one thigh went invisible, his one forearm and hand too... I believe I was the first one hit with that nasty one actually   

It has been fixed, as far as I know... or at the very least I've not run into that particular issue since (and my shifter shapeshifts a LOT, I rarely keep him in one form for more than a few minutes unless i'm grinding).

I'm interested in the more technical behind the scenes information about the problems
