Partially Used: Remove fear from mummy? (kind of, see last post in thread)
I've been having a pretty fun time here on the server. Until while running around just exploring everywhere, I wandered into a Crypt in Calith's Well.
Now I've fought mummies before, normally they spawn when I open an intractable object, so it was never too big of a deal. They'd fear, run around the room scared till it wore off. But in this place, they spawned from the ground. So I went from being feared by 1 Mummy to very quickly having 8 mummies slowly shuffle around me in a a small room.
That's 8 fear aura's, for a level 7 character to try and save, to get out of the crypt.
I spent at least 30 minutes getting more and more pissed and frustrated as every time fear finally ended, and I tried to get to the door, one of the numerous mummies would catch me in their fear aura again.
Thankfully I finally got out, otherwise I would have probably been stuck down there until server reset.

That area is not for lowbies for certain; even has even higher lvl creatures guarding remains. But if you are caught in such a place again, perhaps use of a Prot vs Alignment item, device, spell, even potion may be available and effective to be of help.

As a barbarian, not a lot of those items/spells available to me. Also, didn't have any preemptive chance to do anything against the fear. Just suddenly a mummy spawns out of the ground. Run in fear. Running causes more mummies.
Worst part? They me with only crits... Since they walked so slow, I got swung at like.. 2 or 3 times a minute tops. It would take forever for me to die if I hadn't gotten lucky and got feared out of the room into the hall way.

I was thinking of potions, as Prot vs Alignment and Clarity might be available. And the former offers a fair duration, so can be useful before entering certain areas of the tombs.
That said, it still is a dangerous place; my Epic Cleric was killed for going in there unprepared.
And until one gain some minor protection from fire and/or heat, wandering the desert might not be the best plan for characters.

You're probably right. I just know next to nothing about the server, so the only way to find the information I want is by exploring. I've browsed the forums for area level recommendations, but there isn't really a lot of helpful information out there. I've only found one decent topic on it, and it was overall useless. Recommending talking to Karril (Spelling?) for an ant farm quest. Person doesn't talk to me except to say the mayor is busy.
Then for level 5-7 recommending saving the farmers daughter from goblins. Got that quest, but low and behold, can't find the goblins. Explored all of the area's extensively. Closest thing like that I could find is a cave of kobolds. Nobody in there.
So yeah... just going to run around and explore and see what happens.

Exploring is a good idea, as one gains some XP for going into new areas. But the only quests I generally take in stating levels in to fetch an old man's favorite brand of drink, and heal the farmer's wife.
Aenea is not typical, and areas even in the starting areas can be quite problematic. For instance, briars can penetrate armor and kill, so even picking berries warrants caution. It has been a while since I played low lvls, so some of this may have changed, but using care, perception, and tactical retreats occasionally may be prudent.

Potion of Heroism & Liquid Courage are a low level adventurer's friend! They are less expensive than clarity potions and lasts longer in duration.
Also, welcome to Aenea - sincerely hope you enjoy the stay and doesn't get scared away by the dangers for lowbie adventurers; it can be a struggle gaining a foothold at times, but there are means to survive and it's definitely worth the time to get there. So many things to explore in Aenea that you can spend a year and multiple characters and still discover new things which may surprise you.

Re: Partially Used: Remove fear from mummy? (kind of, see last post in thread)
That super creature in Calith's well only spawns for epic levels (or it used too... unless changed it).
For helpful potions, explore macedone *completely*. Should be able to find some holyguard potions (pfe) on sale.
Check out the tradeskill forums. I think either herbcraft or runecrafting have fear-save boosts. The tradeskills are well worth the effort to train up, especially at low levels.
ANd overall....
Yes, the default NWN fear mechanics suck. Especially when there's multiple fear aura creatures in the area.
The 1.71 community patch tweaks fear auras to work more like PnP.... one save per aura, period. That change should really come to Aenea as well.

He is talking about the lesser mummies spawning from the ground, not the epic boss in the lower level of the dungeon. A low level would not be able to survive an attack from him and live to manage an escape. But yes, not exactly a low level dungeon either way. ^^''
Level 10+ adventurers with some magical gear can handle the first level easy, but the lower level is best left for epics or a party of high level adventurers.

Re: Partially Used: Remove fear from mummy? (kind of, see last post in thread)
So you were exploring an old musty crypt in Caliths Well and you wasn't protected against fear ... well that is a good lesson learned.. next time you venture in there go with some fear protection... (that counts for some other dark musty crypts that may spawn various undead too!)
Mummies are suppose to be frightening, so I don't think the fear aura will go away.
You can use use the tradeskill runemaking to give yourself the Dragon rune (+1 sv vs. fear) which might help...
You can also use herbalism to grind up some Fools Weed (Immunity to fear for 1 ~in-game~ hour) .. and you might as well make some Iron Blood tinture too (+3vs Disease) because you'll likely need it...
You can find several items (rings and amulets) that give Immunity to Fear (Bone ring comes to mind) or a Helmet that provides complete Immunity to Mind Affecting Spells...
The various spells and potions mentioned above are all good suggestions too, you could always try asking a fellow (PC) spellcaster to help you out with some buffing spells...
Or if you have one the Immunity to Fear item property costs only a small ammount on a custom item... ...
You could also try collecting the items the dwarf would want to add the property onto an item of your choice in-game (requires a DM) (Item property 377, heavy requirement item collecting quest!)
..OR... Find a spellcaster with the create/craft feats (Enchant Arms and Armour or Forge Jewellery, and try adding ;mi empower immunity: fear to an armour, helm, ring or amulet (requires the spell remove fear to be known/castable and minimum caster level is 3)...
Plenty of ways to deal with the problem... .. Oh and Welcome to Aenea ! ..

There is an armor sold in Mountainholm Castle in the 'All things Magical' shop, I believe, called 'Commoner's Courage' which grants fear immunity. Not sure if it is available by default or part of the randomized shop inventories - but definitely keep an eye out for it.
The simplest solution to fear is of course, potions. Liquid Courage being the cheapest. If I recall correctly it is sold right in the Sleeping Dragon inn.

Sold in the adventurer's academy behind the leaf market as well I think.
The only issue is, I think both the one sold in the vale, and the one in the academy, are per-reset stocks... so if someone comes along and buys the two or three before you do, you'r SOL.
Another method of gaining liquid courages though..... Talk to the elf in the elf grove in the vale. The entrance to the grove ext to the leaf market entrance. Any further info than that would require spoiler-information however

Thought: This type of spell might be worth a few gold to Player friendly casters. And if Barbarians do not care too much for Mages, perhaps Clerics or Druids have like spells in their repertoires.

Re: Partially Used: Remove fear from mummy? (kind of, see last post in thread)
Not removing fear aura from mummies, but I am modifying it so that each mummy's fear aura only affects a PC one time. Make the save = no fear from that particular mummy. Fail the save = get the fear effect, but only one time from that particular mummy.
