Empowering Items bug
I have been trying to add flaming to my staff but every time I try (;;mi empower flaming) I get the error "Magic item command not recognized". I have also tried this with shocking, frost, and acidic with the same response. I have selected the item before trying to add these properties and have successfully added properties to my robe/cloak before so I know some of the commands work. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

Make sure you use the ;;mi class xxxx command to set your casting class
It may also be worth trying the enchantment on a different item type - it may be that the script is failing to apply the effect for only the magic staff item type.

Re: Empowering Items bug
It must be either the staff (Staff of Empowerment) or the command causing the problem. I have the class and cl set and have made several wands and upgraded some of my other equipment without issue. I'll try it later on a blank weapon once I get rid of my ~15k xp debt.

Re: Empowering Items bug
The other possibility....
The metamagic staves are pretty pricey to begin with. Empowering items will fail if the value of the finished item is beyond (i think) 400,000. I know the FAQ post says caster level x 5,000gp... but I think there was a bit of an outcry and bumped it up to caster level x 10,000.

Re: Empowering Items bug
It gives a different message if the item value is too high for your lv. It will tell you what the total value would be and also what the max value for your lv is, so that's not it. Maybe they just can't be upgraded. I suppose I can always just make some crystals for it.

Re: Empowering Items bug
Magic staff items, like wands and rods, are not subject to being empowered the same way weapons, armor, clothing, and jewelry are.
