Custom item question.

If my character currently has a 40k custom weapon, and a 120k ticket, Can I update the sword with that ticket, and have say, a 160k sword?

Im sure this was covered in another thread somewhere but I can't seem to find it... ... basically if memory serves me well .... yes.. you can add both a 40k and 120k custom item voucher to create a 160k item... I may be wrong and you might want to wait for confirmation from .. however nothings stopping you from designing a 40k, 120k and 160k item in the toolset... it might take a little extra time for you to aquire the said item.. (that saying your next hallmark is approx 160k anyway... ... )....

Yes, you can use a later voucher to update an earlier item with the total value. You can use multiple vouchers for a single item (you just can't use 1 voucher for multiple items).

I know that the question was asked, but I couldn't find an answer either.

I have a related question though...I did see it asked, but didn't see an answer - I hope that it wasn't 'cause I hate making some repeat themselves.


1a. Can Reward Vouchers be used to upgrade items a character already posses?

Say a character has a +2 Cloak of Charisma, but wanted the cloak to also have a +2 Protection property. Or they have a Helmet of Soul Guarding (Immunity to Level/Ability drain) and the player would like to add the Freedom property to it?

1b. What is the cost to the player?

If a + 2 Cloak of Charisma had a base cost of 20,000 GP, and to upgrade it to +2 AC would normally cost an additional 20,000 GP if making the item from scratch, could a player who already possess the Cloak simply use a 20k GP Reward Voucher to get a +2 Charisma/+2 AC Cloak?

(The above scenario is meant to take in account the base cost of what it would take to create such a Cloak, not the cost of each property individually).

I noticed that there seemed to be some precedent already mentioned - If a player wanted an amulet (ex: +2 Con, or +4 Nat AC, etc...) that also had Gort's Wanderer's Amulet properties, it would cost an additional +50,000 GP past the base cost of the item.

Does the "already possessed" item need to be an item received through a Reward Voucher, or can it be an item a player has found in-game?

The vouchers apply only to the custom items, rather than to existing items in the game that anybody could get, as does using them to upgrade (in which case they can be used only for upgrading a previous custom item).

To clarify, if I have my 40k shield, and I get my 80k voucher, do I update to a 80k shield, or a 120k shield?

And for the "updated" item, is there anything specific that needs to be done? I got all my other customs last night with no real issue, but the update's not thar.

When you send an .erf with an updated item, please include (in the comments, not the email) the name of the original item, which voucher you are using to upgrade with, and of course username and character name. Also, please make sure you don't keep the same Bluepring ResRef that the toolset assigns, since it's probably the same as another item already in the game. And keep the items in the "Special > Custom 1" part of the item palette.

DerusTal, I recall getting two .erf files from you at the same time, and one may have overwritten the other. Can you send the updated one again?

I'd prefer it...mostly I just don't want the default one the toolset assigns . I end up changing the resref 99% of the time anyway before importing into the main Aenea module. It just makes it easier if the resref isn't "item" or "item001"...

Ah, ok, should I resubmit Angelica's bow upgrade again then? I noted in the erf that it was an upgrade, I didn't change the tag or resref from it's original 20k version though.

I can't seem to find a way to change the blueprint resref. At all. Can someone help in that regard?

Once the item is made, the resref will be fix. What you'll need to do is select "edit copy" instead of simply "edit".

That will create a copy of the item with all it's values and properties and such, as well as let you set a new resref name.

Right. I need inspiration. Playing a level 11 mage with a 20k and 40k token. Anyone have suggestions on what might be good for them?

Depends on if you want to improve your defenses or your offense.

Do you want bonus spell slots? Do you want better saves? Do you want to have the item cast a spell you normally can't? Do you want an immunity?

Need to determine a direction before you can make choices about the details.

Can you enchant custom items at the Forge?
