Im thinking there be a number of folks who want their 4-legged goodness back Razz

Maybe a toggle VC command for which one you want?

as for the bear... my thoughts from the bug report thread:


Nah... I liked the bear better than the dinky entangle.... it was just
that there were so many problems with the bear early on.... it had
enough HD to be useful at mid levels.... but at low levels it jacked
the spawns up a LOT and wasnt powerful enough to take them out... and
god forbid it despawned... then you were screwed.

And then there was the oddity with the bear's corpse persisting after death, etc...

If
it could have been set to persist until resting (or 24 hours), that
woulda solved the despawn problem (and you couldnt count on ever
getting it in the first place so it wouldnt be too OP).

As for
the HD/jacked up spawn issue.... if there could be two version of the
bear, a lower HD one for levels 1-8, and the old high HD one for levels
9-17.... and maybe even a dire bear for levels 18+...that woulda been
sweet (cuz the old bear wasnt much use around level 20... it had OK
hps... but crap AC so it took a *pounding* and died fast).

I find that the bear was actually useful compared to the new Entangle. Entangle actually forces the character to use an entire round to activate the blessing, which can cause a bit of difficulty.

Plus, entangle appears to entangle familiars, animal companions, and non-hostiles.

The bear itself was a really good choice, and it is nice to have.
The worshippers of Harcorth still get their shark, Andra's faithful should get their bear.
