Yes, the "Please put your weapon away" guards....

One thing I always found odd about that particular interaction is, refusing to put your weapon away gives you an evil alignment hit. I think perhaps a chaotic hit would be more reasonable. The character would be showing disregard for the law, but that doesn't make them evil. A chaotic good ranger may tell the guards to go stuff it not because he's a murdering bastard, but because he just has no use for laws of the civilized lands, yet is still a good soul.

I concur! Although, it is cheaper for straying evil characters to get some evil back than a visit to the cosmic balance...

There's another way in macedone for evil characters to er... 'redeem' themselves, as it were? Although, that method is a bit of a side effect of a certain something being busticated and would likely be fixed when the quest in question is as well.
