Not Used: New Metamagic Feats
I just had a brilliant (or at least to me) idea for new metamagic feats. I'm not sure how doable metamagic feats are, but if you can, these would be neat to see. I personally love metamagic, as it gives an interesting way to twist your magical effects to amplify or improve them as well as allowing for a more varying way to set up your spells) I really want to see some metamagic feats that can REDUCE the spell level of spells, though obviously you have to know the spell to be able to cast them at lower levels.
Force of Will (Improved Force of Will) [Requirements - 30 Spellcraft, Iron Will, Epic Will, Base Will Saving Throw of 15, ability to cast 9th level spells]
Spell Piercing [Requirements - Ability to cast 9th level spells, Spell Penetration, Greater Spell Penetration, Epic Spell Penetration]
Area Amplification [Requirements - Ability to cast 3rd level spells]
Minimize Spell [Requirements - Ability to cast 4th level spells]
I know the first one might be a bit overpowering (Hence the heftier requirements for it, but they're still a little less than they probably should be for something of that caliber) so that one I can definitely understand not using it, but I'm throwing it out there anyway. The others would be really neat to see and don't seem all that overpowering to me. How do they sound to any of you all? And how doable is it to make new metamagic feats.
Force of Will (Improved Force of Will) [Requirements - 30 Spellcraft, Iron Will, Epic Will, Base Will Saving Throw of 15, ability to cast 9th level spells]
- Spoiler:
- Increases or Decreases the Spell DC by 1 per spell level added/subtracted from the base amount. Damaging spells and spells with no saving throw are unaffected by this metamagic feat and cannot be selected for this feat. Saving throw rolls of one against spells cast this way are NOT treated as an automatic failure. (Improved reduces the penalty for casting higher level spells in lower slots by 1 from the total amount, not each spell level as well as increases the total gain by 1 when casting lower level spells in higher level slots.) {EX. - A color spray cast as a level 4 spell gains +3 with the normal feat, +4 with the improved. A Weird spell cast as a level 5 spell has a -4 with the normal feat, -3 with the improved)
Spell Piercing [Requirements - Ability to cast 9th level spells, Spell Penetration, Greater Spell Penetration, Epic Spell Penetration]
- Spoiler:
- Removes the ability for the cast spell to be resisted via spell resistance. Non-Hostile spells and spells with no spell resistance checks allowed are unaffected by the metamagic feat and cannot be selected for this feat. Spells cast while Spell Piercing are cast three levels higher than normal.
Area Amplification [Requirements - Ability to cast 3rd level spells]
- Spoiler:
- Area of effect spells cast in this way have their effective radius increased by once size. (Small -> Medium -> Large -> Huge -> Gargantuan -> Collossal) Single target spells and spells with a collossal radius are unaffected by this metamagic feat and cannot be selected for this feat. Spells cast with an increased radius are cast two levels higher than normal.
Minimize Spell [Requirements - Ability to cast 4th level spells]
- Spoiler:
- Reduces the damaging effects of spells cast to their minimum effect. Spells cast this way are cast two levels lower than normal. Spells of level 1 and 0, as well as spells with no damaging effects or with fixed damage values are not affected by this feat and cannot be selected for use with this feat. Spell DCs are unaffected.

Auto-Extend, Auto-Empower and Auto-Maximize would be neat to see.

Re: Not Used: New Metamagic Feats
I can't see the first two implemented.
Force of Will would basically allow you to fill all your spell slots with 9th level spells, which is a bit much no matter the DC penalty(focused necromancer could easily cast Wail of The Banshee at 20-30-ish DC as a 1st level spell). Increasing spell levels along with DC part I can agree with though.
Spell piercing I think is even worse. All spells up to 6th level cast with no consideration for SR? What about monks and their improved SR feats? Making them almost totally useless with just one feat would suck big time. And there are plenty of ways to hurt high-SR foes with magic anyway.
Area Amplification would be cool to see.
Minimize spell... I'm not sure about that one. It would allow for casting some powerful magic at laughably low levels. Finger of death, dissonance, weird, disintegrate(to name a few) all have varying damage, so you could cast most death magic 2 levels lower with almost no penalty. But if we disallow those to be affected, there's not much use for this feat(not that there's none at all).
Auto-extend would be nice too. Auto-empowered and auto-maximized are a bit overpowered IMO.

Re: Not Used: New Metamagic Feats
Auto-extend is the only one I really have any desire to see implemented, and that's because I like simple casting, and having to apply metamagic each time I buff with a spontaneous gish gets annoying.

Re: Not Used: New Metamagic Feats
Not used. Can't really add new metamagic feats, since they're hardcoded.
