Partially Used: Turn undead
I love the new rendition of turning. The effect is excellent, and the not having to drop the shield to equip a holysymbol is great. The ability feels very very useful again.
Two minor ascetic suggestions Activating turn... I kinda miss the character doing the 'spell casting/chanting' thing while doing it. I like how the character actually does say "I call upon yadayada...", but I think the gesturing/chanting effect would work very well along with that too.
Death by turning... could undead outright killed by a turn get that white wispy vfx with the "roawwrush!" sound, like creatures killed by wail/finger/slay/soulreaver-kills get? I think that would add a very impessive effect to the gameplay.

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
I agree with the chanting/casting animation. Would be cool.
For the undead who are destroyed outright, I think a visual that shows them being "blasted apart" would be even better than the whispy soul one. I think it already does that, though, no?

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
No, they just fall down dead. The only VFX is the diety specific symbol circle around the cleric

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
Ah... so maybe the VFX that you get from the Sunburst spell when it nukes an undead? Blasts them to pieces, it does

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
That'd work too. I just thought it'd be neat if there was something other than they just fall down dead... er... deader dead.

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
Having just experienced the new undead turning effects myself, I gotta say I agree that it needs a little more pizazz. I do like the deity-specific symbols effect though.

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
I think the new effects/behavior are an enormous improvement over poor Xephod (Cleric of Ragnor) having to give up his shield and wave around a Prizimal Medallion in order to dominate skeletons! Some extra fireworks would be icing on the cake.

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
Oh yeah, I definitely prefer not having to awkwardly whip out the deity medallion (I always kinda imagined my PCs saying 'Erm, hold on just a minute while I find my... there we are... OK, I call up my deity...'). But I think it'd have a bit more 'effect' if your PC still did the little 'chanting' motion, or at least make the skellies go *boom! whoosh!* a little. Ya know?

Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
The upcoming hak update will restore the "casting" sequence. I'll see about some sort of visual effect on undead that are destroyed.
Re: Partially Used: Turn undead
Lock and move since the "casting" animation was put back in?
