Crazy Brits and their scifi shows
Them British sure do know how to make a good science fiction show. Yeah, with lots of "sit down and feed the kids" time on her hands, the wife has been surfing Netflix for streaming shows she can watch on the Wii or the computer. It turns out them there folks across the pond are good and making shows that are a great fit for a woman that likes her "SciFi Saturday" style movies.
She stumbled upon Primeval. Burned through that one.
Today, she just finished the series finale of Torchwood.
I have a feeling there's some Dr. Who coming down the line.
For those in the know...any other Brit/scifi series you care to recommend? And yes, she's already gone through every episode of the American Supernatural, True Blood, and Vampire Diaries series.

It's not really Sci-Fi, but I thought Life on Mars was brilliant. And its 80s era cousin Ashes to Ashes is good too.

Even though it got cliff-hung after single season, I LOVED Firefly ans then the movie Serenity. Joss Whedon rocks.
Not speaking from experience, but I had heard good things from a D&D buddy regarding Farscape, Babylon 5, and Battlestar GalactIca.

Re: Crazy Brits and their scifi shows
Farscape was a classic gem (and it's movie The Peacekeeper wars) ... Life on Mars was good, but I didn't like the Ashes to Ashes to sequel myself...
Dr.Who is ace and today I just watched the AWESOME season 5 finale three times in a row, in three different households and even the non-sci-fi-ers were gripped to the edge of the seats.... ...
For a more fantasy orientated thing go check out Legend of the Seeker (the sword of truth books by terry goodkind are far superior though)... or any of SkyTV's acceptable (but not superb) makes of Terry Pratchetts discworld novels (or go for the novels themselves)....
Let me think what else I've got on the bookcase that may appeal...
Red Dwarf would be good if you can get your British-humour-head on.... ...
.. hmm.... most of my other stuff actually originated in Japan or from you guys.... ...
Of course you could try anything on this page here , sure to be some gems there ...

Re: Crazy Brits and their scifi shows
I don't know why I feel ashamed to admit it... because I love the show... but for some reason, I am slightly embarassed to state in public that I very much enjoy Legend of the Seeker. I am an addict...

Firefly was an awesome series. Fox wouldn't know a good show if it raped them in the ass. They've been leeching Simpsons for decades. Thank god Futurama is back! Yay!
Whoa Farscape, Babylon 5 and Battlestar is pushing the nerdiness limit there buddy!

Re: Crazy Brits and their scifi shows
I vaguely remember Babylon 5 ... it's surprising, for as much as a dork that I am, I cannot for the life of me get into TV scifi/fantasy. I dunno, it's just very difficult to accept certain things presented by limited budgets and (IMHO) oftentimes questionable writing.
Oh, one just popped into my head, mostly for nostalgic value - Max Headroom. Got season 1 and 2 sitting in my DVD collection, awaiting me eyeballs.

I've heard good things about Firefly - I've never seen the show, but I have all the NwN content on my hdds, awaiting a spin! And Serenity - maybe I'll convince the wife to let me NetFlix that one someday...

Re: Crazy Brits and their scifi shows
Firefly is the Best in my TV collection, and Serenity is a terrific sequel.
Showing my age, but as far as British related fare, I truly used to watch a ton of old Hammer films: Christopher Lee as Dracula, etc. I enjoyed the many ways used to resurrect the dark Lord, as well as those used to finish him until the next fillm.
