Feb. 2, 2011: Leaf Market Open
The village of Valorian's Vale has opened Leaf Market (named for all the trees surrounding and shading the place) just to the south of the town proper. The space had long been abandoned by the vampire Madara, and input from local citizens and wealthy adventurers led to the town claiming the space.
Butch (purveyor of fine meats) was kind enough to have his place moved there so that a convenient wagon road could lead down into the area.
Smitty immediately contracted with the Firehair clan of dwarves to build him a new house in the Leaf Market.
Several enterprising merchants have already set up in the market, so residents and visitors will be able to purchase fresh produce (brought in by local farmers), savory baked goods (which provides more business to the local mill), fashionable clothing from Macedone, fine parchments and books, and even sparkling gemstones for their loved ones.
----------------------------
Based on a suggestion, there is now an open market where adventurers can spend their hard-earned coinage. Keep in mind that except for Smitty, most of the merchants there will not trade for other goods...they have merchandise of their own to sell (they want to leave at the end of the day with more gold coins than they came with).
The entire Leaf Market is shaded, so daylight-hating-subrace PC can shop in peace.
Note to those PCs that like to kill NPC merchants: I set all the merchants in the open market as "immortal", so that I could make new NPCs without having to add them to the game palette. They can be hurt, but not killed. Might as well leave these folks alone so that they can continue to do business with newer characters.
