pissed off and stupid [*** SPOILERS ***]

[if you're a player reading this, and you haven't done the prophecy quest, you should stop reading here or the spoilers will turn you to stone...]

so i took the quest items -- which had taken me WEEKS to pull together -- down to the forge, and tossed them in. the resulting dialog offered nothing about the quest, it only offered to raise my ac! nothing about the sword or the quest at all. so i clicked on 'no, do nothing' expecting to recover the items and try a different way -- except it DIDN'T do nothing, it most definitely did a very big SOMETHING, namely, it destroyed ALL of the items!!! aaarghhh...

now, i'll admit, maybe i should've just put in a single bom to start off with, rather than all the items, out of caution, so not the brightest thing in the world for me to do what i did. but in my own defense, i think clicking on 'do nothing' really should've done nothing. getting together the items once again won't be nearly as difficult as before, but getting through the magical protections in order to get the one from a certain /monster here/ at the bottom of a certain desert temple was probably the most tedious thing i've ever done in my life and i don't relish having to repeat that. so... any chance i won't have to??????? i mean, maybe a dm could sortof just rez one in?

...and any chance the dialog can be fixed so that, in future, other adventurers won't lose their hard-won items this way?

Just out of curiosity where exactly did you take them? Because if you went were I think you may have then that would be the reason for it not working, if you'd like you could pm me the location you went originally and I may be able to help to get you headed in the right direction to get the weapon forged. That does suck eggs that all the stuff you gathered just poofed. Done that quest more then a few times myself so I realize just what ya went through, I'm almost certain the Dm's will figure out something for ya.

I've never done that quest, so I don't know all the particulars, but as RayvenNightkind was speculating, it sounds like you were dealing with the wrong forge. I'm sure that something can be worked out, a corrective measure of some kind. Certainly one of us will let you know.

On an unrelated note, speaking now as a player to a player - titus, I understand you are aggravated and frustrated, but please, please, please, can you leave the obscenities out? My son comes on these forums (yeah, he's 13, and recently taken to dropping f-bombs, but it's the principle of the thing) as a player, and we would like to keep the environment as inoffensive as we can. do you mean 'bom'? that's my shorthand for 'blood of magic'...

my apologies. it never even occurred to me that anyone would find that offensive, let alone obscene. to me, it's just a colloquial expression. sorry for the inconvenience.

Reality check:

I don't mean to the "that guy" and I love you to death, Eric.... but if we are going to start having to censor things like "pissed off", I may as well just retire from Aenea, because to me, thats like censoring the word "crap".... and I think expecting such a thing to be filtered is quite excessive.

Actually, this is an example of the slippery slope of word usage, as I recall when the phrase in question was less common, and considered taboo. When I was in the military, I recall my own language went from saying 'crap' to something else that means exactly the same, yet violated ettiquette of both family and friends. It took a while to rehab my own speech, and profanity is still my greatest peeve in modern games; cancelled ME3 because of it, in fact.

As an observation here, I appreciate the kindness in which the matter was both asked and answered; wish the Bioware forums were as nice a place to visit.

I understand pet "peeves", really.

I draw the line at them being used to regulate others behavior or speech.

Next time I see you in-game, I'll replace the quest items for you.

As a hint, the entrance to the needed "forge" is nearby where you went, but it's not as obvious and wouldn't seem like the kind of place you'd want to go.

On that matter, I might need to make it a little more obvious than it is now (since I made that texture modification quite a while ago that darkened up that one material considerably).

I just made a quick run to the location required and there is a "marker" in place just gotta look around a bit

ok, so apparently i wasn't even in the right place!! lol
since it was due to my own cluelessness that this happened, i'll accept the consequences and redo the quest. , please don't worry about replacing the items, you've got enough on your plate already.

Ooh that quest. It took me a bit of thinking (and a small hint from veteran player) to figure out the exact location of the forge which the journal hinted toward. XD

Yep; stopped looking at those forums myself; just use the Dev Tracker now. And this recent stink with some of the so-called BSN Communiy and Bioware has me siding with the corporations hoping they will hand out bans.
