New Player Head Selection Issues (merged threads)
While going through character creation when I was selecting from female head models only about 30-40 heads were visible. The rest appeared as a headless model.

Same for male. However, I believe those blank head slots are ones either not selected by , or are placeholders for future selections; not glitches. Uncertain.

New players coming in headless
WIsh I knew a solution, but I am just reporting that I have seen a couple new PCs come in headless. Like maybe they are selecting heads during creation that arent in our haks or something...
Sadly, I havent had a chance to talk to the poor new players, they logged shortly after I spotted them.

During the PC creation process, the "head o'matic" seems to have lots of "empty" heads. Once you get far enough into them (they are consecutive) I can see a new player being confused and just giving up, not realizing they will not have a head on their avatar.

I -thought- I selected a valid head, but I may have clicked the lever one more time after doing so. Anyways, my character also ended up headless.

would it be possible to have a one time use 'head shop' (see wut I did thar?) added to character creation to allow now PCs to select the head they want free of charge?
This would make it so no matter what the player has in their overrides, they will end up with a valid head before they enter play in the Sleeping Dragon.

There actually is such a place in the creation area. That is how I managed to select a bad head.

I guess I dont understand how that is possible... you didnt see yourself missing a head before you continued?

Dave, take a look at my previous post - I can easily see a new player ending up with a blank head by accident.
However I've spoken with more than one player who has said that they chose a CEP head and ended up coming in with a blank instead.
Also, I could swear that the "head-o-matic" didn't used to be 80% blank heads...

I'll check on the head stuff soon.
1st, I'll have the "new player here" scripting check the PC's head model, and if it's not valid for their race/gender, auto-swap it to a standard one.
2nd, I'll look at the code for the "appearance modifier levers" and try to get it to skip "blank" head models.

Here's what I did:
Started with human male head number 1.
Went to the levers.
Advanced forward a few.
Decided I wanted to try new head ones instead, so I hit the middle lever, thinking it would set to 0. No message happened and nothing seemed to change.
I hit the other lever and it started with (what I believe to be) the highest number head available to human males. I hit it a few times, finding a few blank ones, and eventually I found a non-blank one I liked, somewhere around 106 or 107, I think. Then I left, and a couple ports later (I think I was in the same actual area), I noticed I had no head.

Don't worry; will get a-head of this quickly. He will stay up all hours; drinking lots of coffee, and avoiding decap. And if he does not start today, he should be hair tomorrow.

If you catch a DM online, one of us can jump you back to that spot so you can pick another head for free (it's in the Astral Conjunction: Character Creation area).
The way the system is currently set up, the left and right levers cycle through the available heads. If you just wait 30 or 60 seconds (I don't remember which), your head reverts to the last "permanently set" one...the left/right levers basically let you preview each head model. When you hit the middle lever (with the shifty, glowing energy ball), it sets the currently visible head as your permanent one.
The sign lit up with the glowing magic when you first hit that chunk of floating ice should explain this. If it doesn't properly, then I need to go back and fix the description (in addition to figuring out how to keep the left/right levers from showing blank head models).

I don't drink coffee, and I stopped drinking caffeine on a regular basis more than a month ago...Diet Dew was just getting too frustrating to keep stocked up on (and I save myself at least a few hundred dollars a year).Elhanan wrote:He will stay up all hours; drinking lots of coffee....

heh! Was only seeking a way to get 'decap' into the post. Actually, since the mid-80's I have been watching my caffeine due to migraines, and currently only imbibe a couple of Diet Cokes a day. And after the stroke, I gave most of my 5 Hr Energy drinks away since I am no longer working. And I no longer have migraines thanks to daily meds.

I Dreads headaches myself. Since the stroke and my job went thru another Crew Cut, a more Permanent solution has been found via daily meds, and I have been able to Flip it around and say good riddance to migraines. I would not Tease you about something like that.... *Waves good-bye*
