Partially Used: pet idea

Something i saw on another server that i thought was a neat idea. Make a quest(a long one) that involves running all over kingdom come to find the 6 parts to a golem...head,torso,2 arms,2 legs and when you get them done...your wizard can with the aid of several spells assemble a golem for your use. If the golem becomes dmg'd(i.e. killed) the player wizard can assemble the necessary parts from merchants(at a price) to fix him.

They actually had 2 different types, one appeared as a clay golem(the mountain giant model) and the other was an automaton(they used the mithril but then switched to the maug from cep when it became available)

Course the golem would have to be pretty tough to make it useful. If it died nonstop it wouldnt be worth the trouble.

Hmm... this sounds good.. the idea was originally inspired by the OC in where you do exactly that .. collect the six parts.. place them on a table and infuse with magics.. it gives you the "Golem Control amulet" which when worn/activated will summon in a Shield Guardian with extra bonus' dependant on what magic you infused it with... ...

OT Questions: Did that ever become functioning content in the actual game (ie HotU)? I'm just curious.

Must have done ... I did it that's how I know about it.. Chapter two of HotU I believe.. and ye still have the amulet by Chapter Three if ye manage to keep ye Golem alive...

Neat! The last couple of times I played through it was still not implemented/patched. Maybe I have one "Last Hurrah!" left in me for the OC game.

Yes, the shield guardian is very nice when you play the OC as an arcane caster. With the right spell selection during creation (for various permanent buffs) and the right defensive spells slotted in its inherent sequencer (that fires upon entering combat) he can be an unholy terror

The only problem I found was that if an enemy can manage to breach the guardian's defenses (ie. hit him and actually damage him), he goes down WAY too fast... imo he shoulkd have had at least double the HPs they gave him.

Yea...thats why i said he would need to be made/stated so he would be useful. In jewish legend from where golems stem from, the golem was a juggernaut of destruction. It wiped out an entire village before being stopped by removing one letter from the name of god from its forehead turning the word into death and thus destroying it.

Mind you i wouldnt want it indestructible....but it would be nice to not fear it dying in the first 3 seconds of combat.

On another note...you can actually build a golem in nwn2..but its only used in a thayvian arena for like 5 min =\

Also in baldurs gate 2 you could actually assemble a golem-suit. Basically a golem you rode inside that responded to your arm and leg movements. Gave the wearer like +9 Ac...was a bitchin suit. The character model turned into this triple size silver robot lookin thing...i had a blast driving it around and bashin demon skulls in

Which could also be another idea for a golem useful for a fighter type since they cant command golems like wizards...maybe this would be something for them to build and then instead ..they get a chest piece that when readied...does a model/appearance change until they remove it of a maug or something. Make it take 15 seconds to don it and it can only be donned outside of combat. Just to be fair to all if ya follow me
