Mages staves and enchanting...

I know standard melee weapons can be enchanted with an AB+ but i tried to do iggys mage staff...you can do it in toolset...but i wondered if it can be done with the BoM method? i tried but it classes it as a non-melee weapon?

"magic staves" (such as staff of the magi) are a different class of item and are not given enhancement bonuses by the enchantment system. I left "enhancing" them out, since they are charged items and vanish if/when all the charges are used up.
