Re: A Ranged Disarm Feat and Other
While it would be nice to be able to disarm a foe at range.... by shooting the weapon out of their hand or somesuch.... that *should* be a LOT harder to do than it is with a melee weapon.... a LOT harder.
I would at least double the attack penalty for using such a feat....

Hah I disagree. There are archers who can shoot an arrow through a ring.

Re: A Ranged Disarm Feat and Other
Still, thats exceptionally expert skill involved, and not as easy as bashing or finessing a weapon out of an opponents hand in melee combat.
being able to *hit* the target is only part of it... sure, an expert marksman can do that.... but hitting the weapon with enough force and at the correct *angle* to knock it free is MUCH harder, and doubly so at range.... hence the increased penalty.

Re: A Ranged Disarm Feat and Other
I am for this and KD as being a Ranged effect, but maybe it would be easier to do as an Item effect based on the current spell effects seen IG than as a Feat.

Re: A Ranged Disarm Feat and Other
the item effect approach would most likely involve setting a % chance for the effect to activate, otherwise it would go off on every attack... and then there is the balance concern of meleers having a penalty with using the feat, and the item effect not applying the penalty.... or, if you bundle the item effect with a penalty, then even attacks that dont activate the effect would have the penalty....
if the item effect is simulating a mundane technique, then there should be some penalty just like with the feats, and a heavier one for it being used at range... but if there were a temporary *magical* weapon effect for disarming or knockdown, it could be applied to both melee and ranged weapons... that might work.... but it means needing access to magic, which some builds dont have. The feat option would be viable for those, but making the attack balanced vs. what meleers get is the trick.
