Used: ENCHANT RANGED WEAPONS

The game normally more supports meale wapons than ranged. For example you can only enchant meale weapons, bture and ranged weapons - no. I saw some servers where enchanting (burning weapon) was aviable for ranged too. When you cast this spell when you hold a bow, the arrows are enchanted that you add the damage to the arrow. Is it possible to do here?

I'll look into the flame/shock/acidic/frost weapon scripts. It might be possible to use it specifically on a set of arrows/bolts/bullets.

I just realized there are spells that can do this already...
Quillin's Bow of Cold, Quillin's Bow of Electricity, and Quillin's Bow of Fire.

Is there a non-Use Magic Device or non-spellcaster class method for a straight fighter(or other non-magic class) to gain the benefit of these spells? (without having to beg a spellcaster?)

Isn't it a warrior's job to ask the spellcasters for magic, just like it's the spellcaster's job to ask the warriors for combat prowess?

There really isn't a way for a straight non-caster to cast spells without providing them with spellcasting items, which makes spellcasters pretty useless.

Hrmm, although there's plenty of PC wizards and sorcerers (and UMD capable rogues and bards) around, I just had an idea. An NPC caster who'd accept a scroll from a PC and use it on him for a nominal fee. Would be useful for when there's no caster/UMDers around, and would give melee classes a reason to hold onto all the various scrolls they come across.

My question was aimed at making something available for players who want to focus on ranged combat rather than melee.... melee focused characters already have things that allow them to enhance their weapon that don't require a spellcaster and those things don't work for ranged weapons. Add to this that there are a gajillion different magical melee weapons with various effects available, but only a handful of decent magical ranged weapons.

It doesnt seem fair to gimp ranged combatants by forcing them to rely on others for pretty much the same thing that melee characters already have without help. If a person likes to play solo, and wants to use a bow... they are pretty much nerfed as it stands, unless they take spellcasting levels and go for Arcane Archer. It would be nice if there was more than one viable build for a ranged character.

I dont think so, no. Spellcasters have ways of boosting their combat prowess. Warriors have a few ways
of getting magick for their melee weapons on their own, but there is nothing I know of for ranged weapons.

Spellcasters are *always* better at magic than items. Spellcasters can metamagic durations, variable effects, and have higher caster levels that stop their spells from being easily dispelled. Ask Phyllick about his attempt at Vorshlag when he used a bunch of potions... it dint work very well because they all got dispelled. When Crideas buffed him, it was a whole new ballgame.

All spellcasting items do is make it so that non-spellcasters have access to the effects, but not with all the bells and whistles.

I'll look at the various enhancing crystals and see if I can make them work for bows/crossbows.
