Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
She was a great family dog (black lab & german shepherd mix, very protective, but let the kids do anything they wanted with her). I was never a dog person before we got her, but we'll probably get another one in a year or so. She's missed, but after the first couple of days with some tears, the family's been ok.
I started working on the next adventure again. Building a new area to go into for it, but I got distracted now with possibly making a brand new tileset for that area (retexturing an existing one, removing some things, making other atmospheric model changes. I'll probably just finish the area and then rebuild it after I finish the tileset work.

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
Bad news, folks. Thunderstorm is rolling in, so I have to shut things down. If it passes soon enough I'll get the game back up and run the adventure, otherwise we can try for tomorrow evening (same hours as today was supposed to be) or just push it back another week.
Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
I'm hoping this one goes by soon... I went to sleep earlier and set an alarm to get up for this... 00:30am over here... I think I'll watch a film and check back in a bit.. no point going back to bed just yet... really wanted to get in on some of this DM hijinx....

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
*sigh* Storm rolled through fast, went to restart the server and one of my kids says "Thunder!". Sure enough, another little storm was coming in.
I can't get rain when I want it here, and when it does come (along with the nice lightning and thunder), it's when I really don't want it.
Finally restarting the server now, but too late to run today.
Do you peeps want me to run it tomorrow, or would you rather wait until next Saturday?

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
Yup, this coming Saturday. No race/class limitations. People have been running in it with their low level characters and some with 40s. Granted, it often means any combat is basically moot as the epics just streak through each area and mow things down before the last PC in the group has entered an area, but everyone gets to try to figure out clues and do some roleplaying.
Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
My epic wizard certainly won't be able to mow everything down if she's constrained to not use Weird because it still kills party.

Sorry. Car trouble, just got into house. Got to arrange transport for the wife for work this week now.
Looks like it'll be next week. More advance notice on the front page of the site and here, and no prior chores on my end out of the house. We'll even go an hour earlier if it's better for people.

That sounds good to me. My kids are done with archery class for the summer (who the hell plans an outdoor archery class in summer in Phoenix, anyway?), so I won't have the potential for car trouble at an inconvenient time this coming weekend.
Does 3ish to 7ish pm (AZ time, so 6-10pm Eastern) work for most people?

I might be. Depends on how truck-prep goes this week (which as of late has not been good.... the unwritten firefighter rule of 20% of the people doing 80% of the work has been stretched lately to 5% of the people doing 100% of the work -_- )

The short, short version from July 26:
PCs harassed a (dis)honest business man, bribed a tail-less wererat with Chuck E.'s finest merchandise, threatened a ship captain, and learned that Lord Highfang poisoned (to death) a fire giant hiding inside a ship in Macedone that was trying to spread word about something happening back in his mountainous home.
Next week:
Random information: Those are photographs of two of my actual D&D dice. That red one is a DM-only object that my PnP players learned to fear...it only came out when things were really dangerous for them, and it almost always rolled high against the PCs and low for them.

And the Ship Captain who had the smell of sewer trudgers and a dead fire giant in his hold, will find that when he wakes (from inadvertently being knocked out cold by Crideas), that his ship has been nicely deodorized by the not-unfair rabble that accosted him and were grateful for his cooperation.

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
Summary:
PCs headed out to Rockholm to track down the origin of the slain fire giant they found in Macedone. They teleported to the dwarven city of Forge in order to take the pass south from there. They took the pass to Ice Peak and spent time fighting white dragons and frost giants. Skywatcher Stormcaller claimed to have seen some red dragons, but nobody else saw any trace of them.
The group then went to talk to a dwarf at Traderock, but he just kept trying to sell them things made from dragon parts. A cleric did pick up a nice set of black dragonscale armor at a good price.
After a little redirection by a certain dragon, the group followed a river farther south and came across a land filled with lava and inhabited by fire giants. They passed through some caves, pretty much ignoring some demons and what they may have been guarding and instead rushing for the far exit.
The group found more fire giants, capturing and interrogating one that proved to be a traitor that had influenced the others into building weapons to arm a force to attack some nearby dwarves. Lord Highfang has evidently lost favor with Veleron. With the traitor exposed as a servant of Veleron and a priest of Sorgath, the giants' king vowed to root out any other infiltrators and tell the group of any information he may learn (and agreed to sell some weapons to those that ask nicely).

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
Oddly enough, I think this is also the first game night in a while where we had no server crashes or global lag issues. One particular tileset gave some players and issue, but it was not a server side problem. I wish I knew what made the difference, but performance last night was quite good

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
Not sure why that tileset was giving me so much grief. Aside from possibly the rather high polycount for the "uneven/rough" nature of the ground, it didn't LOOK to be that graphically intensive. The castle/keep parts looked like they were ripped from the rural castle exterior tileset (mountainholm's tileset), so it may have been really high-res textures, coupled with relatively high polycount AND a buttload of players on screen at the same time all rolled into one.
The enconter with Foign in traderock was funny. Autumn was one sales-pitch away from having an early dinner.... that daft dwarf's single-mindedness did not sit well with her temperment

Interesting turn of events... Perhaps we can coerce Lord Highfang into helping us defeat Veleron. You know, the enemy of my enemy is my friend... It may be that he simply learned a good deal too much about Veleron's plans and didn't like the direction they were heading, his army of drow being used as meatshields in a phase of the plan, maybe.
At least the war between the Fire Giants and the Dwarves of Forge was squashed before it started. Still the biggest question remains why was Emberbeard on route to Icereach. To ignite a clan war or to scout for more allies?
Maybe our next step could involve a little mundane and magical alteration to look like the recently dead fire giants and infiltrate Icereach in the hope of meeting with any contacts that had been made that may recognise us by sight and spill the plan... any lengthy discussion and our mole might be found out... but it may be a route to take... ... ...

Re: Is anyone interested in a setting up a regular D&D night/
Got plans with kids next weekend, so next game will be the weekend after (and will be an hour earlier than this week's was so that my kids don't complain so loudly about being hungry. ).

When Ranara returns, Vandar informs her that the poison was a deadly powder made from highly concentrated snake venom.Ramana Jala wrote:
